Think Small Welcomes Caché Velásquez, PhD, as Vice President of Early Childhood Programs and Strategy

Think Small is pleased to announce that Caché Velásquez, PhD has joined the organization as Vice President of Early Childhood Programs and Strategy.

Dr. Velásquez brings more than 15 years of experience at the intersection of education, family and parent engagement, disability justice, equity, and community organizing. Her unique strengths are in leading organizations through transformative growth, aligning strategies with justice-focused missions, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams and constituents.

She has held senior and executive leadership roles across nonprofit, academic, and community settings, including MaineHealth Institute for Research, The Literacy Lab, the Center for Learner Equity, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Throughout her career, she has led research, community engagement, operations, strategy, and early learning initiatives that advance equity and systemic change.

“Caché brings extensive experience as a systems leader and early childhood strategist, with a strong track record of building equitable, data-driven programs in partnership with schools, community organizations, and early learning providers,” said Think Small President and CEO Cisa Keller. “Her background in cross-sector collaboration and continuous quality improvement will be a valuable asset to our mission and our work with children, families, and educators. Dr. Velásquez holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is known for leading organizations through transformational growth, aligning strategies with justice-focused missions, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders. Her work has consistently emphasized amplifying marginalized voices, challenging the status quo, and designing initiatives that create lasting, systemic change.
