When families walk into Honeybees Family Child Care, they’re stepping into a space that feels like home. That’s exactly what Brindha envisioned. After years working in a child care center, she opened her own program to create something special: a place where children learn through love, routines bring comfort, and every child’s individuality is honored.
Originally from India, Brindha holds a master’s degree, and she and her husband have two children. Her passion for early learning grew during five years as a lead teacher in infant and toddler classrooms and motivated her to achieve her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. But long hours and rigid schedules made it hard to balance work and family. Starting Honeybees gave her flexibility—and the chance to keep doing what she loves most: caring for children.
Where Care Feels Like Home
“I believe in slow and steady,” Brindha says. “Children need time to feel safe and settle in.” That philosophy shapes everything at Honeybees. Licensed for 14 children, Brindha intentionally grew her program gradually so children could adjust and routines could feel natural. Today, she cares for infants through preschoolers in a warm, child-led environment. Trust is at the heart of her approach: “I wait for little ones to feel ready and come to me—it’s about giving them choice and comfort.”
Her home truly feels like a school. Children learn to transition smoothly between routines, express emotions, and explore age-appropriate lessons through play.
Families stay connected through daily updates, and Brindha makes sure parents feel informed and included. She also brings her culture into the classroom—sharing traditions, foods, and even teaching sign language to support communication.
Growing with Support
Brindha’s career as an early educator has been strengthened by a network of support. Think Small guided her step-by-step to start her business through Child Care Wayfinder navigation—helping her understand licensing requirements and connect with resources. Her county licensor was another key ally, offering hands-on guidance and reassurance through every stage of the process.
As Honeybees grew, Brindha pursued participation in Parent Aware, Minnesota’s quality care and early education recognition program. Think Small advises educators as they advance through the program, achieving one- to four-star ratings. These supports have strengthened her curriculum, expanded her learning materials, and reinforced her commitment to quality care.
“Parent Aware has helped me make play purposeful,” she says. “It’s not just toys—it’s how children learn.”
Today, Honeybees is more than a family child care program—it’s a community where children thrive and get ready for kindergarten, families flourish, and an educator is empowered to grow in her passion for early learning.
