Children in child care and preschool programs are expelled at 13 times the rate of K–12 students—with estimates of more than 300,000 children under age five expelled each year. This course equips early childhood educators with the knowledge and strategies needed to reverse this trend by creating inclusive, supportive environments where all children can thrive. Participants will explore how implicit bias can influence disciplinary decisions, practice using observation and reflection to support individual development, and adopt proactive approaches that prevent suspensions and expulsions. With a focus on equity and timely interventions, this course empowers educators to foster safe, nurturing classrooms that honor every child’s right to learn while making a lasting, positive impact on children and families.
