Authentic Assessment for Children with Disabilities

This 2-hour training provides information and strategies for using authentic assessment with children who have disabilities. It is designed to help early educators from various settings (center- and home-based) use authentic assessment practices to ensure children with disabilities are meeting their developmental goals.

Potpourri of Play

We know that children learn from play. Many of us have also have heard that variety is the spice of life, yet we often find ourselves reaching for the salt and pepper (or using the same ideas with our children). Come jazz things up and refill your spice cupboard! There will be lots of different ideas that YOU can do with your children. We’ll explore activities and teacher made items that can be used with a number of different age groups. Play and learning will have new pizzazz after our time together.

Introduction to the Early Childhood Indicators of Progress (ECIPs): MN Early Learning Standards

Learn about how to read and use the updated ECIPs. This two hour course describes and defines the organizational structure and terms of the standards as well as identifies resources for using the ECIPs within your program including involving and engaging families in children’s learning.

Why Do Children Act the Way They Do? Understanding How A Child is “Wired” (Key # 3)

6:30pm to 8:30pm
Chaska Community Center

This workshop will examine how children are genetically “wired” with temperament traits that make each child’s reactions to the world unique and how these reactions impact their emotional development. Participants will also discuss their own temperaments and examine strategies for applying a “goodness of fit” model that fosters positive mental health for all children.
