Advocating for Young Children: Your Voice Matters | Tuesday, January 26, 2021

Attend a training to build your skills. Advocating for Young Children explores ways that you can use your voice to inﬂuence and shape policies that affect children in your care. We’ll look at speciﬁc steps you can take to educate others and start to make your voice heard.

Attendees of this training will:

IDENTIFY types of advocacy
UNDERSTAND importance of advocacy for early learning ﬁeld
EXPLORE ways to educate others and advocate for relevant policies
DISCUSS strategies for overcoming barriers to advocacy and staying informed and engaged

Marie Huey Public Policy and Advocacy Coordinator, Think Small Read Bio Marie Huey supports early childhood professionals to advocate for better funding and public policies for the field. She does this through communications, trainings, and coaching. Previously she worked at Way to Grow as a Family Educator and with Minnesota Reading Corps as a K-3 Literacy Tutor. She has a B.A. in Hispanic Studies and English Writing from Illinois Wesleyan University.
