Do you have ideas about how to make early care and education better for children and families?

Are you passionate about working with young children and want to do more to improve the field?

Are you curious about the role that public policy plays in early childhood?

If you’re an early childhood educator, and any of those sound like you, consider applying for the Early Childhood Advocacy Leadership Program! It’s a NEW 3-part training series that will help you build your advocacy skills.

YOU already have the important expertise! The Early Childhood Advocacy Leadership Program is focused on providing you with the skills to become an effective early childhood advocate.

Early Childhood Advocacy Leadership Program Overview

The training will be delivered in three 2-hour sessions. If you work in a family child care, child care center, Head Start program, or public early childhood program, you can apply! No previous experience necessary!!

We will offer one in-person and two virtual cohorts this fall. If you have a Develop ID, you’ll receive 6 hours on your learning record for completing the series. The cost is $50 for the program. Scholarships are available.

You’ll learn:

  • How to identify your elected officials and connect with them.
  • What the state legislative process looks like, and how you can engage.
  • About current early childhood advocacy efforts, especially related to the early childhood workforce
  • How to share your personal knowledge effectively with policymakers.

You will also:

  • Explore historic and current contexts of early childhood policy and consider equitable solutions
  • Develop a personal vision and action plan for early care and education advocacy.
  • Practice these skills and connect with others who are interested in learning about advocacy.
