Apply for an Early Learning Scholarship

Think Small is awarding Early Learning Scholarships to families who meet each of the three requirements listed below.

Residency

  • Live in Hennepin or Ramsey County

Age

  • For children who were 3 or 4 years old on September 1, 2017 and not enrolled in kindergarten
  • OR a child who is birth to 2 years old of a parent under age 21 and seeking a GED/high school diploma
  • OR a child who is birth to 2 years old and in foster care, in need of child protective services, or has experienced homelessness in the last 24 months
  • OR a younger sibling may be considered for a scholarship if we have funds and if we confirm their attendance in the same early learning program as their awarded sibling

Income

  • Have an annual gross income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Guideline OR participate in one of the following programs: CCAP, MFIP, SNAP, Head Start, Free & Reduced Lunch, CACFP (by income), Foster Care

Early Learning Scholarship applications are accepted at Families First of MN, 126 Woodlake Drive SE, Rochester, MN 55904. Call 888-450-2773 or visit www.familiesfirstmn.org

If you live in Anoka or Washington Counties,

Early Learning Scholarship applications are accepted at ACCAP (Anoka County Community Action Program), 1201 89th Avenue NE, Suite 345, Blaine, MN 55434. Call 763-783-4711 or visit the ACCAP website.

 

Tips for submitting an application

  • Complete all required areas of the scholarship application. The sections marked with an asterisk (*) are required. All other information is optional.
  • INCLUDE the supporting income documents necessary to prove your family’s income eligibility. The application will be denied if the necessary income documentation, as listed on page three of the application, is missing.
  • Initial all required statements, sign, and date the scholarship application.
  • If you live in Hennepin or Ramsey County, mail or bring the completed application with your original ink and attached income documents to:
