Apply for an Early Learning Scholarship

Think Small is awarding Early Learning Scholarships to families who meet all three requirements regarding residence, age, and income.

Your family must:

  • Live in Hennepin or Ramsey County
  • Have children who are 3 or 4 years old on September 1, 2017

Children not yet 3 years old on 9/1/17 are only considered for a scholarship if they:

  • have a parent under age 21 who is pursuing a GED/high school diploma OR
  • are in foster care or protective services based on verification from the involved county worker OR
  • are experiencing homelessness OR
  • are currently attending the same child care/preschool as their 3- or 4-year-old sibling
  • Have an annual gross income at or below 185%  of the Federal Poverty Guideline OR participate in one of the following programs: CCAP, MFIP, SNAP, Head Start, Free & Reduced Lunch, CACFP (by income), Foster Care

    For family units of more than 9, add $7,733 for each additional member.

Early Learning Scholarship applications are accepted at Families First of MN, 126 Woodlake Drive SE, Rochester, MN 55904. Call 888-450-2773 or visit www.familiesfirstmn.org

If you live in Anoka or Washington Counties,

Early Learning Scholarship applications are accepted at ACCAP (Anoka County Community Action Program), 1201 89th Avenue NE, Suite 345, Blaine, MN 55434. Call 763-783-4711 or visit the ACCAP website.

 

Tips for submitting an application

  • Complete all required areas of the scholarship application. The sections marked with an asterisk (*) are required. All other information is optional.
  • INCLUDE the supporting income documents necessary to prove your family’s income eligibility. The application will be denied if the necessary income documentation, as listed on page three of the application, is missing.
  • Initial all required statements, sign, and date the scholarship application.
  • If you live in Hennepin or Ramsey County, mail or bring the completed application with your original ink and attached income documents to:
